MENTAL HEALTH
Depression and anxiety are common mood challenges for people with Parkinson's, on top of coping with a chronic diagnosis. Research shows that mental health therapy can be extremely beneficial in addressing mood and processing living with Parkinson's. We have compiled lists of therapists who have been recommended to us over the years: Therapist list - Orange & Durham Counties Therapist list - Wake County Therapist list - Charlotte area Note: We are updating the mental health therapist lists for the Wilmington area, Greensboro and Asheville. If you need any of these at this time, you are welcome to email Jessica Shurer at jshurer@neurology.unc.edu. Also note that most therapists are offering telehealth in light of the COVID-19 pandemic and therefore there is also the option to work with a therapist in a different area of the state.
